Facilities & Maintenance Technician – British School of البحرين

We are a selective, co‑educational, independent Nursery‑through‑Year 13 school located in البحرين. Our curriculum follows the National Curriculum for England and Wales, with IGCSE and A‑Level/BTEC examinations. With 2,900 students from over 82 nationalities, we are committed to providing a high‑quality, international education.

Role Summary

The main responsibility of the Facilities & Maintenance Technician is to keep the school facilities and grounds in top condition. You will contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the school by providing a high level of technical support and ensuring that all facilities remain neat, tidy, safe, and hygienic. The role begins in January 2026.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mainly responsible for carpentry, painting, and air conditioning.
  • General care of all indoor and outdoor facilities.
  • Assist in regular risk assessment and inspections.
  • Prepare activity/assembly halls, moving and arranging furniture and seating as required.
  • Remove and relocate furniture and supplies between rooms.
  • Order and/or collect general grounds care supplies authorised by the Operations Manager or school management.
  • Ground improvement and enhancement activities.
  • Other grounds care duties as directed by the immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of school furniture, equipment and surroundings.
Ideal Candidate
  • Ability to understand the work environment of a school and the need for security in relation to building, access, personal property and equipment.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with team members while working with limited supervision.
  • Capability to rapidly acquire skills to use and maintain facilities and grounds care equipment and materials.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technical skills such as plumbing, electrical and painting.
