Job Summary:

Alia Autism Center is seeking a dedicated and creative Music Teacher to plan and deliver engaging music sessions for children and young adults with autism and related developmental needs. The successful candidate will use music as a tool to support communication, social interaction, emotional expression, sensory regulation, and overall student development within a structured and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver music lessons and activities tailored to students with diverse learning, behavioral, and communication needs.
  • Use music to support the development of communication, attention, participation, emotional expression, and social skills.
  • Adapt teaching methods, materials, and instruments to suit individual student abilities and sensory profiles.
  • Incorporate singing, rhythm, movement, instruments, and interactive musical activities into sessions.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to align music activities with student goals and individualized plans.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain appropriate records, observations, and reports as required.
  • Support students during group activities, performances, special events, and center-based programs.
  • Create a safe, positive, and motivating learning environment that encourages participation and creativity.
  • Manage student behavior positively and effectively in line with the center’s policies and approaches.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development activities as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Previous teaching experience as a music teacher, preferably with children or young adults.
  • Experience working with students with autism or special educational needs is highly preferred.
  • Good understanding of differentiated instruction and how to adapt lessons for varying developmental levels.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Patient, flexible, creative, and enthusiastic in working with students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of autism, sensory needs, and behavior support strategies.
  • Ability to play one or more musical instruments.
  • Experience in using music for developmental and therapeutic support.
  • Confidence in leading both individual and group sessions.
Working Environment:

The Music Teacher will work within a collaborative educational and therapeutic setting focused on supporting students’ academic, social, emotional, and functional growth.
