Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at LevelUP HCS

A world-class aerospace engineering company is seeking aSenior Mechanical Design Engineer – Combustion Systemsto lead the design and integration of advanced combustor components within next-generation turbofan propulsion systems. This is a high-impact role for engineers with deep expertise in hot-section hardware, thermal management, and mechanical integrity.

About the Role

You’ll be responsible for the mechanical design and lifecycle support of combustor hardware, including liners, domes, fuel injectors, and thermal shielding systems. Working cross-functionally with aerothermal, materials, and structural teams, you’ll ensure robust, efficient, and manufacturable designs that meet emissions and performance targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of combustor components: liners, domes, injectors, cases, and shielding.
• Develop 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using CATIA or NX.
• Collaborate with analysts to optimize thermal and structural performance.
• Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) across welded, cast, and sheet metal assemblies.
• Interface with suppliers and internal teams to resolve tooling and assembly challenges.
• Prepare engineering documentation for certification and production release.
• Support rig builds, engine integration, and test instrumentation planning.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions based on test feedback.
• Explore innovative cooling designs, additive manufacturing, and advanced materials.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 7–10+ years of experience in combustor or hot-section mechanical design.
• Proficiency in CAD tools (CATIA, NX) and FEA software (ANSYS, Abaqus).
• Strong understanding of high-temperature materials, coatings, and emissions standards.
• Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and configuration control.
• Familiarity with FAA/EASA certification processes and aerospace design best practices.

Preferred Experience

• Lean-premixed combustor designs or variable geometry fuel systems.
• Combustion rig testing and sensor integration.
• Additive manufacturing for liners or injector hardware.
• Exposure to model-based design or digital twin technologies.
